Princess Royale in Ocean City Maryland Great Family Fun at the Beach

Ocean City Maryland has been our Beach go to spot for generations. Over the years we've stayed at many different places down at the beach. It's been a little hard to find one place that fits our family. We have certain things we look for when going. We like to first and foremost have a CLEAN place to stay. Customer service is a MUST for me, it's very important to me to be greeted with a smile upon arrival and treated nicely the entire stay. I mean come on now, you work so hard just to make it on your vacation, the last thing you want to do is deal with rudeness after paying all this money for a room and your vacation in general. And if you are a parent you KNOW that vacations are often NOT vacations (for the parents anyway), they are work! With all this said I wanted to share with you our family spot that we have found to be consistently great when we go and stay at the beach. It's Princess Royale on 91st Street in Ocean City. Very hard to please me because of how particular I am. But this is our chosen spot. It's down the road a ways from the boardwalk, but that is fine with us, we can go right out onto the beach right from the hotel. The rooms are nice, you can pick from a poolside or ocean view. We typically get a side ocean view and it is very nice. You can step out on your other balcony and see the pool and the inside of the hotel. One of the best things is the indoor pool. You never know what the weather will be like and the kids will have a place to swim even if it's raining. They have a jacuzzi and some games down there as well as a bar. Sometimes you might want to catch the steps the elevators are slow, but all and all that would not be a reason to deter us from staying there. You can go online and book directly through them and sometimes get special discounts. With being the frugal mom that I am will will often try to get the BEST deal possible. This year we haven't been able to afford to go, hoping to try and take the kids down for a few days before summer is over. Summer is not the same without a trip to the beach.

Home Made SpiderWeb

So I had this crazy idea that this year for Halloween that I'd create a spiderweb and hang it on the front of our house. I googled it and found some ideas and thought it would be easy enough and not expensive at all. Okay, so me and my bright ideas. Actually it cost less than $40 to complete, I started LAST Saturday and didn't finish it until yesterday. It was completely handmade from rope, zip ties, and then I decided that it just wasn't right until I added lights. Hmmm ...600 lights later and I'm so through with this project. It was a rather fun family thing if that's what you want to call it, even though I did 99.9% of it on my own. The final product..... I am happy with my results but was kicking myself the entire time for starting such a big project. I just didn't think it was going to take me sooo long to finish.

Long Time NO Post???

Okay so it's only been 4 months since I've blogged. I suppose you can say life has been a bit crazy. Won't get into that in this post but I did want to tell you about this awesome contest I've entered on A Thrifty Mom. The contest is to post a recipe for a chance to win an American Express Gift card for $600. My recipe is ..

Momma's Spin on Chicken & Rice
1 pk of boneless skinless chicken breast (you can use whatever part of the chicken you like best as well)
1 large onion
1 bottle Light Red Wine Vinaigrette (any brand)
Clean and cut up the chicken breasts into small pieces,
put them all in a skillet with the onions diced up and the red wine vinaigrette.Cook on med/low until chicken is completely done (usually about 20-30 minutes).
I serve this with white rice and usually fresh zucchini or green beans..it’s good for you, low cal and low in fat, but most of all it’s YUMMY!!!

You can also enter the contest by going here..http://athriftymom.com/2011/08/american-express-blue-card-dinner-at-6-giveaway-this-is-crazy/comment-page-2/#comment-108430........but hurry the contest ends 9/10.

Kung Fu Panda 2

Okay...it's been a long time since I've posted on my blog but life has been really busy. Husband has been sick so much, in and out of the hospital, conferences at school, graduations, soccer, soccer, and more soccer...and too many recitals to name.

I just HAD to post today though. I've been playing the M&M's Movie cash game for a while and I won quite a few times, so I was saving up to take the entire family to go see Kung Fu Panda 2. We wound up going to the AMC Theater in Waldorf. I don't go the movies much just because you can typically control your own kids but you never really know how others (young and old) are going to act. And the movies are too expensive to pay for and not get to enjoy the movie, ya know? Okay, if I was doing a review on the Theater it would get a thumbs up from me. They were so very helpful with everything, and let me use my Movie Cash at the concession stand as well. That really rocked! The only thing we didn't enjoy was sticking to the floors of the theater, but that's pretty standard I guess for any movie theater. Onto the Movie...I LOVED Kung Fu Panda, and I'm a huge Jack Black fan. I also Love Lucy Lui, Angelina Jolie, Jackie Chan, and the rest of the cast...there are so many stars in this movie. Once you have a hit it's typically hard to follow with another that is just as good. Not for DreamWorks, this was a FANTASTIC movie, for the young and old. It's filled with lots for the kiddos and lots for the grown ups too! And this was my first experience with a 3-d Movie. I didn't think it was such a big deal when I first heard of it, but let me tell you.....IT'S AWESOME, and totally worth the extra $3.00 they tack onto the movie price. They really look like they are coming at you, and it is not like back in the day with the red and blue paper glasses we used to wear to watch what they used to call a 3-d movie.
Just when you think the movie is coming to a close, they show you a little something to let you know that there is going to be a Kung Fu Panda 3!! I was like grrrrr...I wasn't ready to leave, I just wanted to see more. I just LOVE it!!!
Skadoosh!!!

Who wouldn't love a big cuddly panda?
